Ten Tracks: July 2011

July 14, 2011

We’ve put together a playlist of tunes that have been pricking ears in the Article office this month, in the hope that they prick some of yours too.

We happen to be having a largely Scandinavian month, getting into Little Dragon’s latest offering, plus an EP from fellow Gothenburgers Niki & the Dove, and with all the lightning bolt and pendulum harp excitement of Björk’s multimedia mega-project Biophilia. There’s been a little ’90s r&b nostalgia indulgence in the likes of Mark Morrison and TLC, but it’s probably best we keep that to ourselves…

Crack open a shandy, recline, and enjoy.

Little Dragon – Brush the Heat (from Ritual Union, out in two weeks)

Tinariwen – Tenere Taqqim Tossam (Kyp and Tunde from TV on the Radio go nomadic, joining Tinariwen in the desert on this single from the upcoming album)

Niki & the Dove – Gentle Roar (from The Fox EP, out now and making us itchy for an album)

Unknown Mortal Orchestra – Little Blu House (the album’s out 18th July – to hear a nice remix by Little Dragon go to here)

Laura J Martin – Kissbye Goodnight feat. Buck 65 (Buck brings the gruff to Laura J Martin’s new single)

Megafaun – These Words (field recording fun, from album due in September)
